Perfecting Scenery with ChooChoo Vision Cameras (CCV)

How different things look! Like most Model Railroaders, I’ve spent most of my time looking at scenery from a birds-eye view. It’s amazing to view my layout using the CCV cams and how the cameras really give you a unique perspective of scale.

I’ve also noticed opportunities to expand and improve my scenery using the CCV images. Looking at the CCV pictures and videos, I’ve made some scenery changes that have really improve the look of the layout and better fit my HO Scale.

Reshaped some trees and added a few additional bushes in the Audry town area. It now looks more realistic as the tree height and sizes were too big.

Replaced the ballast in the West Yard staging area. I guess when I built this area, I used ballast that was too big. The new ballast looks great and true to scale.

CCV also helped me find a few track imperfections. As I watched the CAB-CAM video, I noticed that there were a few spots on my layout where the engine seems to jerk from left-to-right and back again. I never noticed this from my normal birds-eye view. I made a few fixes and re-aligned the track. Wow - how much smoother the trains run thru this area!

Going forward, I will use ChooChoo Vision cameras during my build process. It will help me design and build better scenery as well as improve my track alignment.
